Yahoo sports writes in a piece entitled Jordan vs. Russell charity game’ hoax angers fans that:
Utah Flash owner Brandt Anderson pulled off a WWE-like scripted hoax last night to the disappointment of 7,500 fans who believed that Michael Jordan and Bryon Russell, the former Utah Jazz forward, were about to play a one-on-one game during halftime of an NBA Development League game.
and yahoo also quoted dead spin as saying:
During halftime the lights were turned off and Russell came out asking for Jordan. Then from the other side of the court a Jordan impersonator came out surrounded by bodyguards. A few moments later Russell announced it was an impersonator and then left the court while the fans booed loudly.

…there was late breaking “news” that Michael Jordan has been sighted in Orem (where the Utah Flash happen to play)…except apparently it was Provo, not Orem…Anyway, this could only mean one thing: That he’d decided to take Bryon Russell up on the challenge of a one-on-one game at the Flash’s season opener. It made the Herald Extra, the local paper, and lit up the interwebs despite Arash Markazi’s having Russell himself deny the rumor.
Here’s the video of the Jordan imposter around town:
What immeasurable fail to think it was going to be okay to trick customers into thinking they were coming out to see Michael Jordan; but pretty funny in a cynical way.
